What “iPhone information check” usually means

Buyers search for model, storage, origin, unlocked vs locked status, and general “iPhone details by IMEI”. Each answer comes from a different source — do not expect one IMEI lookup to return everything.

Step 1: Collect IMEI/serial and match the box

Settings → General → About, or *#06#. Compare the box label: model name, printed storage, IMEI/serial. A mismatch is a stop signal — see iPhone IMEI check.

Step 2: Coverage for model / activation / warranty

Use Check Coverage for product and service eligibility. BatchIMEI returns recognized model, activation status/date, and remaining coverage when you upload many codes.

Step 3: Storage, color, configuration — read on the device

Open Settings → General → About (or iPhone Storage). Public Coverage views do not always show color or capacity. Also compare the Model Number on the box with the seller’s listing.

Origin, unlocked, and locked devices

  • Origin / region: box label, invoice, Model Number — a successful IMEI lookup alone does not prove local retail authenticity.
  • Unlocked: test a real SIM/eSIM; Coverage does not replace a carrier-lock check.
  • Carrier locked: verify on-device or with the carrier — BatchIMEI does not return carrier lock.
  • iCloud Lock: check Find My on the device — Coverage ≠ iCloud Lock.

Quick decision checklist

  1. Decide whether you need an IMEI or a serial.
  2. Pick the right lookup (Apple Coverage vs carrier vs Find My).
  3. Match model/box before concluding.
  4. For lots: export Excel and bulk-check.

When pricing used devices: Coverage shows remaining warranty days; Activation Lock decides whether the unit is usable after erase; blacklist (if your market uses one) decides cellular attach. These layers do not replace each other.

Summary

These two concepts are often mixed up in deals. Keep the definitions straight and you will pick the right code and read results correctly.

Frequently asked questions

Does an IMEI check show iPhone storage?

Not always. Read capacity in Settings or on the box, then match the listing.

How do I check a carrier lock with an IMEI?

IMEI/Coverage does not replace a lock test. Try a SIM or ask the carrier/seller policy.

Can IMEI prove iPhone origin?

Only as one signal. Combine Model Number, invoice, and supply chain documents.

Can I look up many iPhones at once?

Yes. Upload Excel to BatchIMEI for model, activation, and coverage per row (max 1,000 codes).
