What Is a Refurbished Device?

A refurbished unit is not brand-new sealed stock, but it is also not simply a broken phone. A proper process includes functional testing, parts replacement when needed, cleaning and repacking (usually with its own warranty).

• Apple Certified Refurbished: Apple's process and warranty.
• Third-party refurb: standards and warranty vary — read the terms carefully.

1. Get the serial from the device / box.
2. Look it up on Check Coverage: model, activation, expiry.
3. Match the returned model against the advertised configuration.
4. Ask about the seller's warranty term if it is not Apple Certified.
